Yahoo! Connected TV and Partners Enhance TV Watching
At CES 2013 this week, Yahoo! Connected TV was showing off our work with content partners to enhance one of our biggest daily habits: watching TV. To make TV viewing more engaging, Yahoo! Broadcast Interactivity uses Soundprint™ technology to detect what a TV viewer is watching, and then delivers real-time Internet content to complement the TV show or advertisement. During CES, we highlighted some of the entertainment and sports content available from our partners including videos, photos, sports stats, show trivia, voting, shopping, game show play, and more.
TV show fans will be delighted with Showtime® Shameless behind the scenes videos, Nat Geo Wild® Big Cat Week images, fun facts, and merchandise discounts, and engaging content for the popular Wheel of Fortune® game show. Bravo® fans can participate in live polls and test their TV show knowledge with the trivia challenge. On HSN®, home shoppers can purchase an item highlighted on the show and take advantage of specials of the day.
Beyond these cool entertainment experiences, some of the most popular TV apps are for sports fans. Showtime Sports® delivers in-depth fighter profiles, videos, and polls for Showtime CHAMPIONSHIP Boxing®. The Yahoo! Sports TV app provides the ultimate football game watching experience, including real-time football stats, scores, news, and videos right on your TV.
We’re also working with advertisers like Verizon Mobile® to bring you enhanced commercials so you can access special offers, coupons or download apps between shows.
It has been a great week at CES, and we appreciate the innovative entertainment and sports TV apps our partners have delivered on Yahoo! Connected TV. Check back here throughout 2013 as we continue to create and share new ways to entertain and inspire you.

This is great and all but all many care about is when MLB.tv is coming to yahoo interconneded tv. Can you provide any insight on that?
A Vizio E420i-A1 is not included in your Vizio list.
I cannot get that new TV to work with your apps.
Info please!
Thanks
sony kdlhx750 will not hold my widgets but for a day or two. it wii drop the widgets and ihave to accept the agreement all over again an reset the widget. how can i get the widgets tohold without having to reset all the time
@Al Smith – You may post issues with apps on the Y! Connected TV Forums. For this issue you may follow the steps in this forum post: http://developer.yahoo.com/forum/General-Yahoo-TV-Widgets/Issues-and-problems-with-apps/1351023402540-48eb523d-23dc-40bc-8d79-df5f328da22a
I am having sooooooo much damn trouble getting signed into my new TV it’s hair pullingly frustrating! Idk what I’m doin wrong, any help u can give???
What app are you trying to sign in to? What TV do you have? Any additional detail is helpful. Thanks!
I also would like to know when MLB.tv will be added. The new season is getting started and I have a new Vizio smart TV but no MLB.tv
When will you offer an app like google chrome that will allow us to surf the web and do other things like check our e-mails. It would sure be nice to be able to go on the web. Thanks in advance.
The 32inch VIZIO Smart TV is so, so. The whole smarttv thing is way overrated. You go to an app but it wont let you in and gives you very little direction. A example is youtube or huluplus. You cant sign up over the tv so you must get on computer to sign up, makes no sense. The WiFi is snail slow. I can have a robus signal over WiFi yet youtube still loads snail slow, so save yourself some frustration and dont bother with youtube on this thing. I give it a 5 out 10 rating with 10 being the highest. Save money and get bigger screen and buy wifi enabled blu-ray player and wait on these so called smart tvs. you cant even surf freely on the web which I did not know before purchase. Proceed with caution on smart tvs
When will you offer an app like bing, google chrome, or firefox that will allow us to surf the web and check emails. I have a Visio MS470SV. PS. would like the TED tv app also.
I also would like to know when we will be able to access the REAL internet. The apps are great, do not really have any problems and I enjoy them. But I can’t check my email or access my online photos (would have to move my over 10,000 photos to different site to work) if had internet would be able to access them. Yahoo has the contract with Vizio so can’t access my Gmail or Google+, Bing, because they are a direct competitor with Yahoo. I have a Yahoo account but for certain things enjoy using Google. All this would be solved with one simple app that allowed you to connect to the World Wide Web.
I will be glad to know when you would add internet on when I got the TV 70 inch they said I would surf the net that was t true I hope hen they do let you surf the net my TV will let me I just heard they are coming out with new TVs
I have an older Samsung Plasma tv for which I purchased the USB thing to enable internet use. I have been having lots of trouble with getting the apps to work. AND the main reason I wanted it was to be able to Skype with internet TV. Where can I get help? I can’t even get the Yahoo News App to bring up any news. VERY FRUSTRATED!!!
thanks!
So why does nobody answer the MLB question? I call Yahoo and they say, “nobody from MLB has asked to make the app”. Hey Yahoo, your company is a crap pile like AOL. Create some value in the free market.
I cant get my Vizio E470i-AO to register since it isnt in your list. when will I be able to watch the apps on it. I set my wallet up and still no movies or shows. I guess I will get a roukoo. will be your loss
What’s going on? 1st off my Vizio E601i-a3 is not on list, 2nd I can’t simply get the yahoo! ID to sign in. This is more ridiculous internet, now smart tv, hair pulling crap. I’m taking this smart tv back. Youtube takes a mind-boggling amount of time to load, these to problems have brought me to a halt.
I love the led picture and the razor thin look of the e601i-a3 smart tv but for all the money I paid for my TV and I can’t browse the web that not right I HOPE YOUR CONNECT TEAM COME UP WITH A WAY TO BROWSE THE WEB SO WE CAN GET OR MONEY WORTH
I see that I’m not the only UNSATISFIED VIZIO and Yahoo Connected Tv CUSTOMER. Bought a e420i-A0 last month from Walmart, paid $479.00. From the very first time setting up the VIZIO I had problems, apps not loading, slow loading, VIZIO factory settings missing from the menu, and now the system is locked. Called VIZIO tech several times for help which only made tv worse. Each time I was told to restore the factory settings, explains system lock, but not the missing menu settings or the problems with the Yahoo apps. I do not believe Yahoo will be doing anymore apps or updates for VIZIO, VIZIO is now in bed with Google. Spent a few weeks researching smart tv’s and asking a lot of questions before buying. Was told e420i-A0 was the latest 42″ smart tv and no new models were expected till next year was also told that VIZIO has the best customer service around. Jokes on me. Last month VIZIO’s web site showed only the e420i-A0, VIZIO now only shows only the e420i-A1, have to search to find the e420i-A0. The e420i-A1 the Google apps and is being supported a hell of a lot better than Yahoo supports their apps.I also have and app installed by VIZIO called MGo. MGo is a Google only app and will never work on Yahoo from what I’ve been told. I feel like I was mislead into purchasing KNOWN DEFECTIVE and OLD INVENTORY with the e420i-A0. Customer service won’t do anything because of the mutable restores (as stated in their recently updated warranty). Because of all this bullshit, I am returning the e420i-AO back to Walmart or directly to VIZIO (VIZIO is minutes away from my house). I WILL GET MY MONEY BACK. Faulty apps and is known to be defective, installing the MGo app that is not supported by Yahoo, misleading statements and web information and lack of knowledgable support personal.
MLBTV APP!!!
I have the e701i-a3 and I can’t get in to the App Store is there a way I have to do it I also can’t get an Internet browser please help!
Stealing ninetynine cents at a time is how I see it.
Have yet to use or receive any apps for my vizio as Idon’twant to open my piggy bank..For the vizio people updated firmware from vizio was installed thru the wi fi
whatever that did .I would like to try hulu or netflix but I can’t even get yahoo whether to work
technology aint it a bitch
For Stan/Question #21
I have a Vizio E320VP. I love it! I don’t use Yahoo TV as I don’t know how. I had my Vizio installed by a guy who does installations, etc. I use NETFLIX with great success. My son gave me an Apple TV for Christmas & he came and hooked it up. It is easy to use and I am thrilled with all I get to see. It is the best $8 per month I spend. I haven’t tried Hulu so far. I don’t want to be obligated for another monthly payment.
I don’t know about the apps. Sorry I can’t help there. I was interested in seeing the Sopranos series, but don’t understand how to get it from Yahoo. The directions aren’t clear & they want me to sign up without my knowing what the price is and how you pay for it, so I am not going to do it after all. The Vizio is a great TV. Beautiful color and sharp picture. My is an LED.
I have a Vizio E601i-a3. Does that work for the connected tv?
