Yahoo! Connected TV and Partners Enhance TV Watching

At CES 2013 this week, Yahoo! Connected TV was showing off our work with content partners to enhance one of our biggest daily habits: watching TV. To make TV viewing more engaging, Yahoo! Broadcast Interactivity uses Soundprint™ technology to detect what a TV viewer is watching, and then delivers real-time Internet content to complement the TV show or advertisement.  During CES, we highlighted some of the entertainment and sports content available from our partners including videos, photos, sports stats, show trivia, voting, shopping, game show play, and more.

TV show fans will be delighted with Showtime® Shameless behind the scenes videos, Nat Geo Wild® Big Cat Week images, fun facts, and merchandise discounts, and engaging content for the popular Wheel of Fortune® game show.  Bravo® fans can participate in live polls and test their TV show knowledge with the trivia challenge.  On HSN®, home shoppers can purchase an item highlighted on the show and take advantage of specials of the day.

Beyond these cool entertainment experiences, some of the most popular TV apps are for sports fans. Showtime Sports® delivers in-depth fighter profiles, videos, and polls for Showtime CHAMPIONSHIP Boxing®. The Yahoo! Sports TV app provides the ultimate football game watching experience, including real-time football stats, scores, news, and videos right on your TV.

We’re also working with advertisers like Verizon Mobile® to bring you enhanced commercials so you can access special offers, coupons or download apps between shows.

Calling all Publishers!: Participate in Events and Product Promotions in 2H 2010

Yahoo! Connected TV will be involved in planning several events and product promotions in the 2H of 2010.  We are calling on all publishers to submit their TV Widgets in time, to be featured in front of thousands of consumers, press, and analysts covering the consumer electronic device, content and distribution industries.  The current 2H 2010 event schedule is outlined below.

WRAL local news (Raleigh, N.C.) widget now available (VIDEO)

WRAL News and parent company Capitol Broadcasting Company, Inc. launched a local news TV Widget this week.  The WRAL TV Widget is a great example of how Yahoo! Connected TV can compliment what you’re watching without interrupting programming. The TV Widget was designed by News Over Wireless (NOW) and leverages their extensive experience in building custom local TV applications.  If you live in North Carolina or want to keep up with NC news check out the WRAL TV Widget.  Expect many more Local TV station Widgets from across the country in the near future.
