Introducing More Than 30 New Yahoo! Connected TV Apps
Today, we are excited to welcome to the family more than 30 new TV apps available across the Yahoo! Connected TV platform, bringing our total to more than 120 available TV apps.

As you know, Connected TV apps run the gamut from fun to functional, including social networking, streaming music, casual games, personalized financial quotes, locally relevant news, weather and sports, and more than 75,000 movies and TV shows on demand.

App developers can create free or paid TV apps for the Connected TV platform. The Yahoo! Connected TV Store, featuring a gallery of for-fee TV apps, is expected to launch in the near future. Yahoo! is also preparing a pilot program for broadcast interactivity, which will sync TV apps with live broadcast content, as announced at the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show.

Thanks for the points you have provided here. Something important I would like to convey is that laptop or computer memory needs generally rise along with other advances in the know-how. For instance, if new generations of cpus are introduced to the market, there’s usually a corresponding increase in the dimensions preferences of both computer memory and also hard drive room. This is because the software operated by simply these cpus will inevitably increase in power to make new technological innovation.
I want a “Crackle” widget for my Vizio…!!!!!!!
Would love to see the Watch Espn app come to Yahoo Connected TVs.
enjoying the Yahoo widgets; please make Yahoo! email available thanks!
CFNEWS13,Baynews9 and being able to watch a Newscast from a Station. More Games please and a better way to get to Widget Dock and also sort by area meaning like News it would show all the News Channels I have installed and nothing else only if I choose show all.
I would like to see comcast/xfinity added to the widgets app
I second that comment with C Edwards, add Yahoo email to an app, like to add I was expecting this type of App but was sorely disappointed when I did not find one on my Vizio TV
Why was the “TV Guide” widget deleted by Vizio or yahoo? On my Vizio TV, it was recently turned off and then later was automatically deleted. Please explain. Will there be another tv guide widget to take its place? thank you.
I would like to see the ATT Uverse App and HBO to Go App added.
How can I delete or refresh widget on my Vizio tv. I have the Amazon instant video widget that seems stuck. I would like to remove it and reinstall it.
I too was disapointed to find that I could not access my Yahoo mail through the Yahoo Widget GAllery on my Vizio TV.
I’m running a media server at home. Any chance that someone will develop an app that’ll let me connect to it and share my and my son’s tvs? Someone somewhere has got to be working on something like this. Please?
I have had this TV for 3 years now, and I am amazed that there are not more apps available. I purchased this TV for ALOT of money because SAMSUNG has an amazing picutre….. however, sad to say it appears to be behind the times and limits my abilities. My next TV will be Vizio, sooooo much more reasonably priced and smart enough to provide access to basic apps like netflix and hulu. One would think with this kind of price tag, Samsung would focus on customers’ needs and update the libraries of the consumers that have made the purchase. Great picture, but I might as well hang it in my closet behind the coats – or go invest even more money on their competition so that I can actually watch more than the news.
How about an Internet Browser App??? I may be wrong but I’m pretty sure the Google base widgets have this. Is there some fundamental aspect that will not let this happen? I’m not super computer savvy but almost every phone out there has an internet browser so you can’t tell me it doesn’t fit in a ginormous TV or the technology isnt there (although the technology may not be in my model). Anyway, it does have some nice widgets that I use a lot, Netflix, Pandora, but when I bought this “Internet TV” I assumed it had the “Internet” like an iPhone does.
These Vizio apps are too proprietary and restrictive!!!
Great TV (Vizio M420sv led) However I thought i BOUGHT an INTERNET TV If you think you are going on the internet, THINK AGAIN! This reminds me of having AOL and not seeing the rest of the internet back in the day
Here is just a sample of Obvious Places YOU CANT GO with these SO CALLED APPS
Free HULU (you CAN go to paid HULU PLUS though)
Comcast / Xfinity
You Tube
Any interactive sites (Like NY Times)
Any site you can think of that is free
Dont buy these these with the expectation that you will have full access to the net,, the products just “name drops” internet sites,, the feature is generally worthless unless you want to pay for all these site
bueno
Attention Yahoo !!!
Rumor is Google TV is ready for CES this month and Visio may be jumping ship!
Get this thing working and give us more than a PUNY 30 options (I dont think Montana local news is a viable widget for the vast majority of the continetal US!) . or once again your company will be caught asleep at the switch as it has as the rest of the newt has passed you by
Either get us a basic interface (dont now how> try the internet channel on a Wii System, I may not be able to open every video but i can surf and then others will follow.
Make it thru the basic Yahoo portal so we have to use your search engine to get out there.
Do I have to write the widget for you … If I do, ill just take the set back and wait til Google TV
PS Where is regular HULU We aint paying!
Hey coul u a hulu plus please
Amazon Video is available through connected tv. I have yet to be able to find the app. As an Amazon Prime member, this could be huge for me. Any help?
i did everything right , but i cant watch videos on justin tv, why? please help me
get a roku box has all the apps u need
Why Vimeo is not available in Italy ?
@ABU: Developers and publishers decide what countries they launch their apps in. Sometimes an app does not get released to a country due to content rights.
I would like just one widjet that works as it is suppose to. They work haphazard are not at all. I see a class action lawsuit in the making. Facebook has never ever streamed video although it has an icon to do so. Smart TV (NOT). do not waste your money on one of these tv,s. They got me good.
I don’t see Vimeo in the US either.
I bought a XVT Vizio. I am thrilled with the TV. The Internet apps are a bit disappointing to be honest. They work, and they do their jobs as they were designed to. I have used Hulu Plus, Netflix, and Amazon video a ton! I truly wish they took up the entire screen rather than giving the side bar first. . . if I click on an app I want to go into it, I don’t need the sidebar to ask me if I want to go into it again. I am extremely disappointed that crackle is not on your list. Even on their commercials they say they are available on PS3, and web enabled tv’s, but obviously not through the yahoo store. Honestly, if I could swap my tv onto any other type of system I would do it, simply because most of your apps are useless at best. I live with it, because I don’t want to buy a roku for $50 that I do not need, that is why I bought my awesome TV! Please make more apps available. The new cbs interactive app, that is a complete waste of everyones time. If it had CBS programming to watch, then great, but I don’t care about the cast or photos. Most of your apps which are local news stations, this is also a waste of most people’s time. Please stop trying to be creative with apps, the things people like are simple, they are the most popular websites on the internet. Please make these apps more user friendly and better rather than wasting your time trying to give me the local news in Wisconsin. As a side note, I live in Omaha Nebraska, and I notice that there is not a single station for here, so again, thumbs up for Wisconsin I guess? I hope this helps you all and that you read it. The whole system is not broken, but it really needs some simple minded fixes. Less complex, simpler, more effective. AND ADD CRACKLE!
My Vizeo Internet TV is great but not a home computer as most think I did too. Sales people don’t know squat. They all could be though.
Stupid apps that don’t have a show to watch are useless. I have a phone for useless junk.
Yahoo is terrible on everything. It’s just pop ups on my lap top too
Email is amateur at best. I have been shut off for sending mails to friends I have a lot. Yet real spammers love Yahoo
Hey win the Uganda lottery lately??
Yahoo is just junk and its sad because they are a household name. Branding is great. Content is complacent and lazy.
They should be cutting edge. Instead I have cut them out
Good luck. Vizeo rocks. Not just a great price. An example of a company providing real value. My $475 Vizeo smokes TVs costing more and give much less
The new Crackle app for Vizio VIA TV’s has one big problem: IT DOES NOT WORK! After about 45 minutes it stops the movie (abends, or abnormal end) and returns to the opening screen of the app. I have never yet been able to watch a movie all the way through using the crackle app. It seems to have something to do with the commercial insertions. I have a new Vizio M320SL which is great, but the app does not, and never has worked properly. This throws the whole concept of Yahoo TV into question. It is unreliable and not worth wasting your time with. Now this is just one app, but crackle and vizio know about the problem and nothing has been done. Maybe to tough for them?
@Capwinder: This is an unknown issue however, we are looking into this problem. In the meantime, you may try the steps on the following forum post: http://developer.yahoo.com/forum/General-Yahoo-TV-Widgets/Issues-and-problems-with-apps/1351023402540-48eb523d-23dc-40bc-8d79-df5f328da22a
Whenever I load the “CBS Interactive”, it says “Connection Unavailable”. The Widget is unable to refresh its data and will be closed. Please try again later.”
CBS has removed their app for now.
I am optimistic that future app development will result in something that will be actually useful. As a new owner, I found the app store to be a bit disappointing as the majority of software that does not require any additional purchase or subscription is a bit disappointing (rather fluffy and not useful beyond their novelty) and the other apps – such as huluplus, may well be useful but who wants to risk another ongoing subscription expense to find out?
The single feature that makes the entire TV worthwhile to me is the Netflix app – it is great to push a button and go to Netflix streaming as though it was my DVR or a tv channel.
Would really like to see apps developed for non-subscription hulu or network sites for current streaming episodes of some favorite programming…would also like to see a TV guide app (what happened to it? I saw it but then it disappeared) as the internal guide on the TV is horrible.
All in all, smartTV is off to a promising start. The question remains to be answered, though, as to it’s viability without relevant and useful apps. Will it be yet another dead end on the evolutionary branches of integrated entertainment?
Hey, I use hulu all the time, but not hulu plus. how about an app that gets me hulu?
yeah, a hulu app seems so obvious! but no. only solution I know of is to download the (free) virtual machine that’s preconfig’d with everything you need to build your own widgets and upload them to the tv. seriously? that borders on insane.
I want to browse the internet, and want more tv shows free with crackle.
